2023 Scholarship Winners
Southern Quality Propane awarded $8,000 in a new annual scholarship to students in South Georgia.
Award winners were Allen DeErica of Pelham High School, Matthew Rakestraw of Colquitt County High School, Kayandra Moore of Thomas County Central High School, Henry McDonald of Thomasville High School, Margaret Boltja of Brookwood School, Halena Walker of Brooks County High School, Henry Haithcock of Lowndes County High School and Charleston “Reese” Godby of Bainbridge High School.
The Sam Gentry Southern Quality Propane Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a student who is entering college or a trade school.
“We were proud to launch this scholarship that recognizes young men and women who share our goals to build themselves and their community,” said Southern Quality Propane president Brent Henson. “Sam Gentry was a beloved member of our team. He worked in the propane industry for decades and in his career and life, he exhibited many fine qualities that are rare in today’s world. Among them, were qualities of honesty, hard work, and integrity. We are honored to found this scholarship in his memory to recognize young men and women who share our values. We will allocate this scholarship each year in South Georgia and North Florida as we continue support for education in our communities.”
